Join international storyteller, CJ Jenkins for Play, Laugh, Create: The Art of Co-Creation in Storytelling, a one-day workshop that delves into the art of flexible and responsive storytelling and teaches practical, hands-on techniques to navigate the unpredictable nature of live performance.
The workshop will be divided into two halves:
0930 - 1230: Responding to Distractions – Building Adaptability and Confidence in Live Storytelling
In the morning, we will focus on developing key skills for navigating the unexpected during live storytelling. Through a series of practical exercises, we will roleplay different scenarios of live performance being disrupted and explore a number of different ways to address these. Participants will learn how to maintain audience engagement while staying true to the essence of the story.
1230 - 1330 - Lunch (Participants can explore the variety of food places at Chinatown Point)

1330 - 1630: Children as Co-Creators – Harnessing Curiosity and Imagination to Transform the Story
In the afternoon, will build on the adaptability skills honed in the morning, to focus on the specific role of children as co-creators in the storytelling process. Drawing on their energy, curiosity and imagination, you will learn practical ways to harness their contributions; by including their ideas in the story and helping them to shape the narrative. Through hands-on exercises, you will discover how to weave their ideas in seamlessly; empowering the children’s thoughts and ideas and giving you a fresh way of understanding the stories you tell.
